Penguins start prospects tournament with loss to Ottawa

The Penguins played their first game of their pre-season prospect tournament in London Ontario against the Ottawa Senators today and fell to a 4-1 defeat. The Penguins have given opportunities to a number of Junior players from the Canadian Junior system along with those in the Penguins system at the moment. Despite being a "friendly" game there were two fights, both involving the Pens Bobby Farnham. He fought against Darren Kramer and Shane Prince and was ejected after the second fight. Eric Hartzell was given his first start as a Penguins goalie and split the game with Jarry. Both goalies conceded 2 goals in their 30 minute stints respectively.

The lone Penguins game came from Cody Sylvester of the Western Hockey League's Calgary Hitmen last season. The biggest player for the Senators was Derek Grant who scored twice after the Senators were leading 2-1 to give them the win. The Penguins fielded 8 players on tryouts and the rest where filled by those in the system already. The lines are below;

Kuhnhackl - Megna - Brace
Slyvester - Dea - Nejezchleb
Farnham - Marcantuoni - O'Brien
Simmonds - Ranking - Rowney

Pouliot - Samuelsson
Maatta - Harrington
D'Agostino - Seymour

Hartzell/Jarry

The Penguins next game is on 7pm against Toronto.
